A MESSAGE FROM Tommie Runz Fundraising Page
Support My Journey: Running 340 Miles for Recovery
Running has changed my life. Eight years ago, I was battling alcoholism, unsure of my next step. Choosing sobriety was the hardest, yet most important decision I’ve ever made. After a year of sobriety, I started running and it became part of my way forward—mile by mile, proving to myself that change is possible, that growth is possible, that life after addiction is full of possibility.
Now, I’m about to take on the biggest challenge of my life: The Speed Project—running 340 miles, as a solo runner, from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The OG Course, no spectators, my own strength, my team, and the will to keep moving forward. And I’m not doing it just for myself—I’m running to support Release Recovery Foundation, an organization dedicated to making mental health and addiction treatment accessible to those who need it most.
I know firsthand how hard the road to recovery can be. I also know that not everyone has the resources or support to take that first step. Release Recovery Foundation provides scholarships to individuals seeking treatment, breaking down financial barriers so more people can get the help they deserve.
This run is bigger than me. It’s about giving back, about showing what’s possible when we commit to growth, and about making sure no one has to fight alone. Every dollar donated goes directly to helping someone on their journey to recovery.
I’ve been putting in 100+ mile training weeks, pushing myself beyond my limits, and running through the desert to make this happen. But I can’t do it without you. Your support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a word of encouragement—means everything.
Let’s do something powerful together. Let’s run for those still searching for their way forward. Donate today and be part of this journey with me.
