A MESSAGE FROM Varsha
I was the girl who was always picked last in gym class. I was small, soft-spoken, and didn’t have much confidence. What I did have was a strong support system. Family, friends, and people who believed in me helped me thrive in school and in life, even when sports didn’t feel like my place.
I didn’t find my inner athlete until much later.
By then, I had the privilege of a supportive family, a fulfilling career, and opportunities that gave me the space to grow into myself. Running came later, but the confidence it unlocked changed everything for me.
That kind of confidence shouldn’t be a privilege. Too many girls never get the chance to discover what they’re capable of because of inequities, lack of mentorship, or limited access to resources.
On October 11, I’ll be running the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon for the younger version of me and for the girls who are still waiting to feel strong, capable, and seen. I’m running so they can one day find that confidence too, whether that means crossing a finish line or simply learning to trust themselves.
Your support helps make that possible.
Empower the next generation of Strong Girls. When girls are supported, they rise.
Your donation helps keep our programs accessible, expands scholarships, and fuels new opportunities for girls to grow in sport and in life. Together, we can inspire confidence, leadership, and lifelong resilience. Donate today and help shape a stronger future. 💪✨
PS - To the SGU team: Thank you so much for choosing me. It's such a (once in a lifetime!) honor to run with you. I won't disappoint ;-)
