In November,2021 I will run the TCS New York
City Marathon, which is 42 kilometers long, in order to help Afghan girls back
home.
Back home, running has acted as a sort of
therapy for the previous four years. Despite my fears about the safety of my
family members in Afghanistan right now, I want to run the NYC marathon. To
raise funds for Free to Run and become a voice to advocate the rights of Afghan
women. Free to Run has helped me and thousands of other young Afghan girls by
providing them a safe environment to experience running, and outdoor activities; now is the time to strengthen Free to Run, so that they can assist
even more Afghan women.
Free to Run is an organization that uses
adventure sports to empower female leaders in Afghanistan and Iraq, believing
that women can and will be a force for positive changes in their communities.
