A MESSAGE FROM Abrielle
My mother and I have been running the Houston Half Marathon together for years. This past summer, she was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and had to defer her entry. The doctors told her she wouldn't be able to run anymore once she started chemo; she told them, "I am running a full marathon next year. Figure it out."
Every six weeks or so, I fly back to Houston and we train together. She is running more now than before she was diagnosed. This year, she and I will run our first marathons together also, as as fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
